A TALE OF THREE CITIES

Tokyo Racecourse

A TALE OF THREE CITIES

Tokyo, Hong Kong and London in a three week stretch may sound odd for a person originating from South Africa. However that's exactly the plan in an arduous 3 week half way around the globe trip and back to cover three major racing and breeding events that are happening in two regions and three different countries in the world.I start off in the hi-tech city of Tokyo, where our company SAHorseracing.COM, will be covering the Japan Cup for the first time in our history.

Having returned from Japan in July with a huge amount of knowledge about the Japanese breeding sector, it is only right to experience the racing sector first hand. The whistle stop 5 nights trip will include coverage of the Japan Cup and Japan Cup dirt held on Saturday amd Sunday this week.

Then, I am off to London via Taipei and Hong Kong for a stop at the Tattersalls Decemeber Sale; a sale I believe could change the breed in South Africa due to the quality of stock and attractive nature of the prices at this event for South African buyers. South African studs need top mares and a few breeders have dipped into their pockets and purchased at this sale in the past especially looking for the right foundation mare for their studs. However, the need to do so is even greater than in previous years in order to maintain the lofty prices commanded by South African yearlings of late. This sale will no doubt service that sector of the market.London and surrounds are cold in December but the sale should be hot enough to warm us all.

After a 5 day stay in Newmarket, it is back to Hong Kong for the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Races. We have built up a solid relationship with the Hong Kong Jockey Club over
the years and have throughly enjoyed our times there. It's like a second home to us having been there since 2003 almost twice each year. This year, I am sure, will be no different.5 nights later with thoughts still lingering of another top class raceday in Hong Kong, I will return home.

Sha-Tin Raceourse in Hong Kong

The three stop racing/breeding tour will no doubt go down history as successful racing and breeding events. We will be lucky enough to have been there thanks to the Hong Kong Jockey Club, the Japanese Racing Association and Tattersalls.
